2024. 116 f. ITU-R P.1546-1 recommendation addresses the point-to-area prediction method for terrestrial services in the frequency range of 30 MHz to 3000 MHz, including Frequency Modulated (FM) Sound Broadcasting Service. In Brazil, this recommendation is used to calculate the field intensity of broadcasting services. However, the experimental data used in ITU-R P.1546-1 were obtained under terrestrial and water propagation conditions, without considering behavior in tropical forest regions. Brazil has about 49.29% of its territory covered by the Amazon rainforest, and it has been argued that electromagnetic wave propagation in forested areas behaves differently than in non-vegetated areas. This study conducts a case study in the Amazon rainforest to determine the field intensity of FM signals in the 76.0 MHz to 108.0 MHz range, comparing the results with the values obtained by Brazilian legislation. The results showed differences in field intensity due to vegetation, indicating that conventional methods may overestimate or underestimate actual values.pdf.
