The Manauara Energy Company plant, located in the city of Manaus/AM, changed its energy matrix from fuel oil (OC) to natural gas (GN). Natural gas generates almost no particulate matter or sulfur dioxide, and carbon dioxide emissions are on average 30% lower compared to other fuels. The present study aims to characterize the changes in the indices of gaseous effluents when changing the energy matrix (from fuel oil to natural gas) at the UTE Manauara. The methodology used data derived from the monitoring of gaseous emissions and air quality. From these, it was observed that the analyzed parameters were within the levels required by CONAMA resolutions, the researched generating groups operate in accordance with the required environmental quality conditions, and the change in the energy matrix from fuel oil to natural gas was positive.
