Based on historical data, the study highlights the importance of statistics for creating policies aimed at reducing accidents, especially those involving fatalities. The 2004 World Health Organization (WHO) report underscored the severity of the issue, with 1.17 million deaths and between 25 and 35 million injuries globally. The study also examines the economic and social costs of traffic accidents, with a focus on the state of Roraima, where 10,395 hospitalizations were recorded during the study period.
