A critical analysis is made to show the advantages and the environmental impacts generated by this industry. The development of this work consisted of extensive research carried out to understand the practices of the pulp and paper industry and its consequences related to environmental degradation. The main problems identified by the pulp and paper production were high water consumption, contamination of soil, water, and air by chemical components from paper production, and the loss of biodiversity in the areas destined to its raw material production, composed entirely of eucalyptus.
