In the city of Manaus, environmental problems, mainly those related to civil construction, are not different from the rest of Brazil. The rubber period at the end of the 19th century and the implementation of the Free Trade Zone in the 1960s were responsible for the growing mass population migration to the capital, thus boosting the growth of the Civil Construction Industry, as well as the generation of its waste.
