The recovery of degraded areas is crucial for reducing global warming, requiring careful species selection. This study investigates the survival and mortality of fruit species planted in the Tarumã-Açu Hydrographic Basin and estimates carbon fixation over 20 years. Using participant observation, the research analyzed 2000 seedlings, including cashew, ingá, buriti, and açaí. Survival rates ranged from 84.8% to 100%, and carbon fixation was estimated between 142 kg and 312 kg of CO₂ per tree in 20 years.
