Law No. 12.305/10, which instituted the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS), contains important instruments to enable the country to advance in the face of major environmental, social, and economic problems arising from the inadequate handling of solid waste. This research addresses the disposal of solid waste in the urban area of the city of Manaus, in view of what environmental law provides on the disposal of solid waste. The methodological nature of this research is exploratory, aiming at the approximation of the theme and seeking greater familiarity with environmental law and access to existing reports in the secretariats of the city of Manaus.
