Dissertação (Mestrado Profissional em Engenharia de Processos) – Universidade Federal do Pará, Instituto de Tecnologia, Belém, 2021.https://rigalileo.itegam.org.br/handle/123456789/844The objective of this research is to highlight the indispensability of the chain of custody in relation to ballistic evidence, since, in the case of criminal proceedings, it is essential to present evidence and, for this, it must be ensured that it is properly protected, packaged and analyzed, a process that is carried out through the chain of custody. It was also sought to verify if the professionals involved in this process are able to carry it out properly and, therefore, data collection was carried out through a questionnaire with workers from the Public Security Department of the State of Amazonas. The results demonstrate that a portion, even if small, of the participants do not fully understand where the chain of custody starts and/or how to deal with ballistic evidence. The questionnaire also portrayed the difficulties faced by workers in Manaus, as it allowed them to report their perceptions regarding working conditions, which are often deficient.
