However, with the help of resources available for this area, better access to medicines, research studies, and market competition, the need to find alternatives that allow cost rationalization without compromising therapy has become essential for the maintenance of health. In this sense, this work aimed to demonstrate the importance of pharmacoeconomics in the oncology sector of a public hospital in the Brazilian Amazon. Experiencing the exponential growth of public health expenditures is an economic feasibility assessment strategy to optimize resource scarcity more efficiently. Pharmacoeconomics is characterized by the application of economics in the use of medicines, minimizing financial expenses without compromising treatment. The dispensing of oncological medication must consider economic aspects. The global debate on the feasibility of the financial system must take into account cost-effectiveness, which relates costs to health outcomes. According to the National Cancer Institute, it is estimated that for Brazil, in the 2018-2019 biennium, the occurrence of 600,000 new cases of cancer per year. The mismatch between available financial resources and advances in cancer therapy requires improvement projects in cost-benefit, cost-utilization, and cost-minimization processes. Given this scenario, we have outlined a guiding diagram with the macro challenge of pharmacoeconomics in the antineoplastic therapy sector of a public hospital in the Brazilian Amazon (Hospital Regional do Baixo Amazonas in Western Pará), designated as UNACON (High Complexity Oncology Unit) since 2011, which provides oncological care to 19 municipalities in Western Pará, aiming to support the growing demand for oncology patients without the proportional exhaustion of institutional resources.pdf.FarmacoeconomiaGestão financeiraCusto-benefícioEconomia da saúdeOncologiaFarmacoeconomia no Setor de Oncologia de um Hospital Público no Oeste do ParáDissertaçãongenharia de Processos
