    The study assesses the environmental impacts in the streams of Manaus, caused by disorderly occupation, lack of sanitation, and waste accumulation. Using qualitative and quantitative methods, the research proposes solutions such as bank stabilization and systematic waste collection, emphasizing the role of PROSAMIM in improving environmental conditions and the quality of life for local residents.

    Percepção dos Moradores do Igarapé de Manaus Sobre o PROSAMIM e a Prestação de Serviços Públicos em Manaus - AM

    The present work is a study on the theoretical basis of the perception of the residents of Manaus Igarapé regarding PROSAMIM and public services. The study of human occupation in the stream of Manaus began in 1995 with the presentation of a monograph, which had already precarious environmental care and specific regarding sanitation and the urgency of action to minimize them. Through field research that constituted the application of questionnaires in 53 family units, investigated the perceptions of residents about the conditions, feelings and public interests relating to water, sewer, trash, drainage and tree planting services in Igarapé Manaus-AM. As a result, it was found that as the water service, their situations and feelings decreases successively for sewerage, street cleaning, drainage and afforestation. In all, popular participation, as well as the occurrence of campaigns that could intensify it, as well as collaborating with other aspects questioned, were not desirable. The comparison of results obtained with the principles of human occupation in the socioeconomic and environmental bias concluded that, at different levels, all evaluated services could not be sustained and fully collaborative. Finally, it is suggested that sanitation services and urban environmental resources contribute mutually to the control, management, and provide information to carry out their respective potential, ie, improving quality of life for residents and to raise public awareness, and contribute to socioeconomic and environmental problems in the integration of wastewater Igarapé of Manaus, in order to make them a healthy urban environment.

    Qualidade de Água do Igarapé do Mestre Chico – PROSAMIM em Manaus/AM

    The city of Manaus is growing fast and chaotic way since the event of the Zona Franca de Manaus (ZFM) and Polo Industrial de Manaus (PIM) in the 70 and 80, causing environmental devastation of the surrounding forest and pollution of its unprecedented urban streams, condemning the quality of its waters and annihilating or expelling and a significant portion of the local fauna and flora. The Programa Social e Ambiental dos Igarapés de Manaus (PROSAMIM) became the most important reaction for the environmental restoration of streams of the Amazon capital. The waters of its streams found themselves not only putrid and formed an immense carpet of garbage containers "pet", continuously collected for public cleaning of municipal power. This work has as main objective to know the water quality of Igarapé Mestre Chico, Programa Social e Ambiental dos Igarapés de Manaus - PROSAMIM, Manaus / AM, and specific objectives to raise the results of analyzes of water from the Igarapé do Mestre Chico in the period January 2011 to January 2012 and show the quality of the waters of the Igarapé do Mestre Chico, contextualizing their indicators and the evolution of their health and urban context. The methodology adopted was based on the literature, both for the study of the subject as now proposed for the compilation of existing data on the water quality of the Igarapé do Mestre Chico. It was found that the samples collected from the point No. 01 (Igarapé Mestre Chico: Viaduct José Claudio de Souza); point No. 02 (Igarapé Mestre Chico: Av. Tarumã - Quarter Square 14); point No. 03 (Igarapé Mestre Chico: Lookout), low dissolved oxygen ranging from 1 to 4.82 mg O2 / L and higher concentrations thermotolerant coliforms (460 - 93x104 NMP / 100mL), biochemical oxygen demand (8,6 - 56.5 mg O2 / L), total phosphorous (0.201 to 3.7 mg P / L) and ammonia (<0.01 to 22.03 mg N / L). The values nitrate (0.1 to 6.81 mg N / L), turbidity (3.48 to 86.0 mg / L) total dissolved solids (6.03 to 240.0 mg / L) lie in the acceptable range of CONAMA Resolution 357/05. These results show that the waters of the Igarapé do Mestre Chico still polluted despite improvements made by PROSAMIM.

    Reuso de Água Industrial em uma Empresa do Ramo Eletroeletrônico Localizada no Polo Industrial de Manaus – PIM

    In order to identify the feasibility of industrial water reuse through treatment for membrane filters and ion exchange in a electronics industry located in the Industrial Pole of Manaus - PIM and its benefits for the industrial process was carried out the implementation of a treatment process Water from the Industrial Effluent Treatment Plant (ETEI) through reverse osmosis and ion exchange. The development of the project followed the following steps: Check the water quality to the process, search for alternatives to improve the quality and reduce the consumption of water and implementation of the reverse osmosis and ion exchange process. After the implementation of the treatment, the water quality was checked at the entry points of ETEI, ETEI output and the output of demineralized water treatment system. Among the several parameters, the most significant were pH, electrical conductivity, heavy metals, oils and greases and organic load. It was concluded that the implementation of such treatment possible reuse of the effluent would be disposed to the water environment to the satisfaction of the surface treatment process, reducing costs, reducing environmental impacts and contributing to maintaining the quality of the finished product.
