Resource Virtualization Process on Private Cloud Platform: IT Infrastructure Cost Optimization. Cloud computing is proving to be a growing trend and is consolidating its ease of acquisition and configuration. The objective of this work is to develop the process that enables the deployment and management of distributed systems, efficiently taking advantage of the use of servers, perhaps underused, aiming at saving the resources that would come from the acquisition of new network assets, enabling small organizations to access cloud computing technology applied to the use and distribution of network infrastructure services. A case study was conducted in an educational institution, where data were collected from the workload of workstations. A private cloud project was installed using free Openstack software. Then, samples were taken with the new system already operating. As a result, this project deployed the infrastructure-as-a-service model, leveraging equipment, reducing costs and fostering the use of virtualization in distributed systems. The processes applied in the present work can be implemented in small and medium-sized companies.
