    Reflorestamento e Recuperação de Áreas Degradadas na Bacia Hidrográfica do Tarumã-Açu e sua Contribuição na Redução dos Gases Efeito Estufa

    Reforestation and Recovery of Degraded Areas in the Tarumã-Açu Hydrographic Basin and Its Contribution in the Reduction of Greenhouse Gases. The recovery of degraded areas is crucial for reducing global warming, requiring careful species selection. This study investigates the survival and mortality of fruit species planted in the Tarumã-Açu Hydrographic Basin and estimates carbon fixation over 20 years. Using participant observation, the research analyzed 2000 seedlings, including cashew, ingá, buriti, and açaí. Survival rates ranged from 84.8% to 100%, and carbon fixation was estimated between 142 kg and 312 kg of CO₂ per tree in 20 years. The study highlights reforestation's role in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.
