Item A construção de Barragens na Amazônia e a inundação de Vilas Ribeirinhas: Elementos para a Gestão Socioambiental(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014) BRITO, Sâmia de Oliveira; ROCHA, Gilberto de MirandaThis academic paper aims to contribute to the researches and studies related to the area of production of electricity in Brazil as well it works as a reflective analysis about the viability, the technical issues, plans, actions and a variation of impacts caused by those enterprises. The relevance of this subject is based in the complexity through the relation between the progress in the country and impacts suffered by these locations such as a city, a state or a community. Trying to understand better in how it works, the village Mutum Paraná, flooded by The Power Plant UHE Jirau in Rondonia, was chosen. Many different aspects that deal with these specific types of projects will be explored in this paper. The research was divided in some periods: At the beginning, the study about the viability and the elaboration of the project through the analysis of chemical and physical characteristics of the Madeira River was made as well the waterway data of the construction. The next step treats, specifically, the physical characteristics of the engineering dam system such as the planning for the construction, the execution of the work and the technical data. Substantiating what we consider as the main goal, the whole process of the foundation of the dam was observed. Concluding the study, the socioeconomics and environmental characteristics of the Village Mutum Parana were debated before the construction of Jirau Dam. The results were based on the process of population relocation to Nova Village Mutum, its characteristics and the social programs offered to this community, which are now with a new cultural, economic, social and environmental interface. The methodology used in this work was a literature review, visits, technical meeting and interviews about the flooded villages as a consequence of human actions. This academic paper treats specifically the socioeconomics and environmental changes occurred in that location and to those riverside population in Vila Mutum Parana in Rondonia who were drastically damaged by the construction of the Dam UHE Jirau.Item A Utilização do Óleo Comestível Pós-Consumo em Manaus (AM): Alternativa para a Produção de Biodiesel e Redução de Impactos Ambientais(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015) BEZERRA, José Antônio Coutinho; ROCHA, Gilberto de MirandaThis study aims to investigate the treatment and disposal of post-consumption edible oil produced in the manufacture of foods used for biodiesel production, in a company installed in the Industrial Pole of Manaus. The methodological process used was through technical visits in the recycling company and some generating companies. The production process, storage form, and the list of suppliers (generators) were observed. Manaus has a municipal law that defines responsibilities for generating such waste oil; however, to develop a management program, the available options for receipt and treatment are still very precarious. Given this scenario, it is noted that there is a need for public and administrative interventions that better define the guidelines for the proper management of these liquid wastes.Item Gestão Municipal sobre os Impactos Urbanos e Ambientais na Implantação de Empreendimentos Residenciais de Grande Porte na Cidade de Manaus/AM(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015) VASCONCELOS, Gina Maria Oliveira Garcia de; ROCHA, Gilberto de MirandaThis research sought to incorporate aspects of sustainability in large real estate projects in Manaus, showing its benefits to entrepreneurs. The study addresses the urban and environmental impacts of these projects, highlighting the need for tools such as the Neighborhood Impact Study (EIV) to mitigate social, economic, and environmental conflicts. The municipal management of Manaus uses the Terms of Reference to reconcile usage guidelines, maintenance, and enhancement of environmental heritage, adaptation to the natural or built landscape, and urban infrastructure. It concludes that viable solutions can be found for the environmental problems caused by the growth of large urban housing projects.Item Reciclagem de Garrafas PET para Utilização em Sistema de Telhas Sustentável(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014) FELIPE, Tereza Rodrigues; ROCHA, Gilberto de MirandaThe study focuses on the recycling of PET bottles for the production of sustainable roofing tiles, aiming to reduce the environmental impact caused by improper disposal of these residues. The research was conducted at Inova da Amazônia S/A, located in Manaus, and demonstrates the environmental, economic, and social benefits of using eco-friendly tiles made from recycled PET. The study also discusses the application of environmental management in the company, the improvement of product quality, and the possibility of generating direct and indirect jobs.
