Item Application of Quality Management Tools to Reduce Costs with Scrap in the Automated Teller Machine Industry(Instituto de Tecnologia e Educação Galileo da Amazônia, 2023) RODRIGUES, Suede MONTEIRO, Roberval; LEITE, Jandecy CabralGlobalization has increased competitiveness among markets, leading companies to optimize their production processes to reduce scrap and costs. This study presents the application of quality tools in the automated teller machine (ATM) industry to minimize financial losses associated with material rejection. The study employed tools such as Pareto diagram, trend analysis, scatter diagram, 5 Whys analysis, and 5W2H to identify the main causes of material rejection. The results showed that implementing these tools reduced rejection costs by 95% between 2018 and 2020, with sustained reductions in 2021, proving the effectiveness of the actions taken.Item Application of Quality Management Tools to Reduce Costs with Scrap in the Automated Teller Machine Industry(Instituto de Tecnologia e Educação Galileo da Amazônia, 2023) RODRIGUES, Suede MONTEIRO, Roberval; LEITE, Jandecy CabralGlobalization has increased competitiveness among markets, leading companies to optimize their production processes to reduce scrap and costs. Outsourcing production was analyzed as a strategy for cost optimization and increased business process efficiency. The article proposes an empirical outsourcing model for manufacturing in an electronics company within Brazil’s Industrial Hub, aiming to expand production capacity without requiring new facilities. The research utilized the action research methodology, divided into three main stages: concept analysis, empirical methodology construction based on company needs, and practical implementation. Results indicate that outsourcing led to a 14% increase in production capacity and a 15% reduction in manufacturing costs per unit. The study provides a model applicable to companies seeking to expand operations without significant infrastructure investments.
