Waste generated by construction causes significant environmental impacts, consuming around 40% of global natural resources and generating approximately 1 billion tons of solid waste annually. This case study, carried out at a construction site in Manaus, analyzes solid waste management practices in construction and proposes strategies to promote sustainable development. The research highlights the application of CONAMA Resolution No. 307/2002 for the classification and management of construction and demolition waste (RCD) and the search for integrated solutions such as recycling and reuse directly on site.

(Instituto de Tecnologia e Educação Galileo da Amazônia, 2024-03-11) SILVA, Waldomiro dos Santos; CAMPOS, Paola Souto
This dissertation addresses the implementation of an Environmental Management System (EMS) in the Organic Chemistry Laboratory at IFAM/Campus Manaus Centro. The study emphasizes the importance of sustainable practices in higher education institutions, especially in laboratories dealing with potentially hazardous chemicals. Using methodologies such as the Leopold matrix and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), the study identifies environmental impacts and proposes mitigation measures. The research concludes that implementing the EMS can significantly reduce environmental impacts, improve operational efficiency, and serve as a model for other institutions.

Uma Proposta de Metodologia de Gerenciamento de Resíduos Sólidos do Centro Universitário Fametro, Unidades 1 e 2, Manaus/Amazonas
(Instituto de Tecnologia e Educação Galileo da Amazônia, 2024-11-20) ALMEIDA, Dario Amauri Lopes de; LIMA, Alexandra Amaro de
This work proposes a solid waste management methodology for Units 1 and 2 of the Centro Universitário Fametro in Manaus, Amazonas. With the increasing need for efficient solutions for urban solid waste management, the study aims to reduce environmental impacts and promote sustainable practices within the institution. The developed methodology applies quality tools, such as the PDCA cycle and the fishbone diagram, to optimize waste disposal, segregation, collection, treatment, and final disposal processes. The study also involves creating a selective collection plan and installing sorting units, aiming to transform Fametro into a model of sustainable management.

Reverse logistics is a concept that involves managing the reverse flow of products and materials focusing on reuse, recycling and adequate disposal of products at the end of their useful life, aiming to reduce environmental impact and ensure efficiency and sustainable development of products and productive processes. Currently, academic discussion in this regard is increasing and the research carried out offers, for the most part, practical answers for companies in facing obstacles to the implementation of reverse flows and highlights the economic and environmental advantages resulting from this practice. In order to understand the lack of implementation and investments of reverse flows in productive processes, the present work aims to identify the main barriers to its implementation in the electronics industries of the Manaus Industrial Complex. To this end, a systematic review of the literature was carried out, through which we can better understand the state of academic research on this subject and which made it possible to identify a series of barriers, which were categorized, selected and validated by industry experts and academic professionals based on questionnaires. Their responses were compiled creating an overall prioritization of the list of barriers. From then on, the decision making trial and evaluation laboratory method (DEMATEL) was used, which determined which barriers were most impactful based on the opinion of experts in order to obtain the level of relationship that a group of barriers exerts on another group. The purpose of this instrument is to offer for managers and decision makers a conceptual framework for understanding the difficulties of implementing reverse logistics practices in the Manaus Industrial Complex.

Educação e sustentabilidade: propor a inserção de práticas sustentáveis no PPC do curso técnico Integrado em edificações do Instituto Federal do Amazonas - IFAM no município de Manaus
(Instituto de Tecnologia e Educação Galileo da Amazônia, 2023-06-20) SILVA, Elcilene Costa da; SILVA, Simone da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7260488247107062
Humanity is increasingly establishing a predatory relationship with nature due to the consumerist and capitalist model of production and, due to this lifestyle, humanity is rapidly approaching an environmental disaster scenario. Teaching and learning how to take care of the world, how to take care of the collective, how to reduce, recycle and reuse should be a topic worked on in schools in a relevant and effective way, raising awareness not only among students, but also among the teaching staff of educational institutions, professionals working in them, the community, society and the world. Only through education can we build behaviors and habits consistent with sustainability and only through curriculum restructuring, it can be worked on in an integrated way with knowledge and school experiences. Considering that the disciplines of the Pedagogical Project of the Course (PPC) of the Integrated Technical Course in Buildings do not include the theme of sustainability, this work aims to identify and propose the inclusion of the teaching of sustainability concepts and sustainable development in the syllabi of technical courses in the integrated mode in building construction from the Federal Institute of Amazonas - IFAM. In conclusion, it is understood that there is a shortage of disciplines focused on teaching sustainability, especially related to the triple sustainability of the environment, economy and social. Therefore, it is suggested to adopt disciplines that highlight the importance of the theme for future professionals.
