Use of Dissipative Silencers for Fan Noise Control

Abstract

The article discusses noise control in industrial fans using dissipative silencers, emphasizing their effectiveness in attenuating high-frequency noise with minimal aerodynamic pressure loss. Key noise sources in fans, including aerodynamic and non-aerodynamic causes, are reviewed, along with design guidelines for parallel-baffle silencers. A case study illustrates the practical application, achieving a reduction in sound pressure levels to comply with Brazilian regulations.
