Industrial Multivariate Explorer: A solution with Matlab for time series mining
(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2015) SEISDEDOS, Luis Vázquez; CASTILLO, Alvaro Aguilera; MARTINEZ, David Diaz; ROSALES, Rolando Ramis; PEREZ, Jose Manuel Rodriguez; Jandecy Cabral Leite
The study introduces the development of a Matlab application named Industrial Multivariate Explorer (IME), designed to explore and extract information from time series data in chemical and thermo-energy processes. The tool allows visualization of up to eight normalized signals, selection of specific time windows with cursors, and calculation of descriptive statistics for static modeling. Results can be saved in Excel files, facilitating the analysis of quasi-stationary states in industrial processes. The application was tested with real data from a 250 MW thermal power plant and simulated data, demonstrating its utility for process monitoring and diagnostics.

    Isothermic Gasification Octave
(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2015) MATIAUDA, Mario; DE LEÓN BENÍTEZ, Juan B.; ARTEAGA, Luis Ernesto; FREAZA, Nora; RIVERO, Marta; YACHECEN, Carlos; Eduardo de Magalhães Braga
Gasification is a process of thermal conversion where solid biomass (sawdust pellets) is transformed into gas by partial oxidation at high temperatures. The model is based on the two-phase theory (bubble - emulsion), suitable for predicting experimental results in reactions occurring in fluidized beds. The model simulation includes mass and energy balances and hydrodynamic studies, with assumptions such as isothermal process behavior.

Limestone Calcination Optimization of Vertical Container Oven
(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2015) SAGASTUME GUTIÉRREZ, Alexis; Manoel Henrique Reis Nascimento
Producing lime demands high energy consumption and leads to significant CO₂ emissions. This study aims to establish a methodology to optimize limestone calcination in standard vertical kilns in Cuba, considering lime quality’s impact on the economic contribution margin. Tools such as exergy analysis and genetic algorithms were used. Major inefficiencies identified include combustion irreversibilities, heat transfer losses, and exergy loss through exhaust gases. Applying the methodology reduced energy consumption by 4.6% and improved lime quality by 5.3%.

Loss of product (cryogenic liquid) for filling of cars - tanks: production of liquid
(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2015) TORRINHA, Andrea da Silva; OLIVEIRA, Maria Socorro Frutuoso de; GUEDES, Megue Pinheiro; LEITE, Jandecy Cabral; José Antônio da Silva Souza
The paper analyzes the loss of cryogenic liquids (oxygen and nitrogen) during the filling of tank cars, a critical stage in the transportation of these gases. Losses occur due to heat exchanges causing vaporization, internal pressure increase in tanks, and inadequate pump handling. Using field questionnaires, operational data, and literature review, the study suggests improvements such as better thermal insulation and operator training, emphasizing the economic and environmental impacts of such waste.

Matrix polyester composite strengthened by munguba fiber (Pseudobombax munguba) Amazon
(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2015) LOPES, Raimundo V. P.; LEITE, Jandecy C.; FUJIYAMA, Roberto Tetsuo; AFONSO, Marcus R. B.; HERMENEGILDO, Eleodoro R.; MAGALHÃES, Edilson Marques
The diversity of Amazon flora supports the development of new polymeric composites. This article evaluates the mechanical properties of polyester composites reinforced with short and continuous munguba fibers (Pseudobombax munguba). Tensile tests were conducted for fibers of different lengths (5, 10, and 15 mm) and continuous aligned fibers. Results indicated increased tensile strength with fiber length and superior mechanical performance with aligned continuous fibers.

Motion for a product to collect a sample of human stool and/or urine – KITLAB
(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2015) MELO, Cláudio Márcio Bizantino de; LEITE, Jandecy Cabral; Prof. Dr. Carlos Tavares da Costa Júnior
This paper presents an innovative product proposal for collecting stool and/or urine samples using the KITLAB device. It is a detachable container that can be installed directly on toilet bowls, enabling hygienic, practical, and hands-free collection. The design addresses contamination and discomfort issues associated with traditional sample collection methods, improving health service practices. Market research results showed broad public acceptance and commercial viability of the product.

Multicriteria design of passive harmonic filters for industrial installations using evolutionary computation techniques
(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2015) LEITE, Jandecy Cabral; ABRIL, Ignácio Perez; AZEVEDO, Manoel Socorro Santos; NASCIMENTO, Manoel Henrique Reis do; MORAES, Nadime Mustafa; REIS, Ana Maria; Profa. Dra. Maria Adrina Paixão de Souza da Silva.
This article presents a mathematical method and a computational tool based on Evolutionary Computation (NSGA II) for the multicriteria design of passive harmonic filters in industrial electrical systems. Focused on the Industrial Pole of Manaus (PIM), the study frames the harmonic compensation design as a multi-objective optimization problem, balancing harmonic distortion reduction with economic viability under Brazilian energy tariff structures. The developed tool automatically selects filter configurations and parameters, incorporating standards such as PRODIST-Module 8 and IEEE 519-92. Results demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach.

Naive Bayes applied impacts harmonic analysis in industrial electrical systems
(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2015) SILVA, Waterloo Ferreira da; NOGUEIRA, Rildo de Mendonça; CASTRO, Anderson; SANTANA, Ádamo L.; TOSTES, Maria Emília de Lima; Profa. Dra. Maria Adrina Paixão de Souza da Silva.
This paper applies the Naive Bayes data mining technique to analyze the impact of current harmonic distortion in an industrial facility located in the Manaus Industrial Pole. During a week-long measurement campaign, data were collected from circuits such as compressors, air conditioning systems, and tablet and notebook testing lines. Using tools like Weka and Genie, the analysis identified correlations between specific harmonic orders and increases in total harmonic distortion of voltage (THDv), with the 7th-order harmonic having the highest impact.

Pine Wood Drying at High Temperatures
(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2015) MATIAUDA, Mario; LEÓN BENÍTEZ, Juan B. de; FREAZA, Nora; RIVERO, Marta; MAGALHÃES, Edilson Marques
The study proposes a mathematical model to simulate the drying of Pinus elliottii wood at high temperatures, considering heat and mass transfer phenomena. The model was experimentally validated, demonstrating the evolution of moisture content and temperature in the wood during the process. The results indicate that the model shows good agreement with experimental data, proving useful for predicting drying conditions under various scenarios.
