(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014) HARTZ, Alessandra Guimarães; MENDES, Ronaldo Lopes Rodrigues; ROCHA, Gilberto de Miranda; LEITE, Jandecy Cabral; NASCIMENTO, Manoel Henrique Reis
This study aimed to diagnose the causes of the recurring problem of organic material accumulation in the naval structures of the waterway terminals in Manacapuru, Humaitá, Parintins, and Manicoré, in the state of Amazonas. The study identified that the problem occurs because the project designs do not consider the fluvial water system and the geography of the region. During the flood season, the accumulation of organic matter in the terminal structures causes environmental and operational damage. The methodology used was bibliographic and documentary research, with a case study. It is concluded that an efficient and low-cost solution is needed to mitigate the effects of organic material accumulation.
