Considerações para a Avaliação do Impacto Ambiental da Geração de Eletricidade em uma Estação Central: Estudo de Caso da Planta Termoelétrica Manauara
(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2014) TOUSET, Juan P. Hernández; LEITE, Jandecy Cabral; RICO, Iván L. Rodríguez; FRANÇA, Alcimar de Jesus; GUEDES, Otama de Assis; JIMENEZ, Italo Jorge Tavares; MAGALHÃES, Edilson Marques
This study applies Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to evaluate the environmental impacts of electricity generation at the Manauara Thermoelectric Plant in Manaus, Brazil, using internal combustion engines. The focus is on lubricating oil usage, oily water treatment, and waste transportation. Results indicate that the greatest impacts are linked to lubricating oil use and transport, particularly inorganic emissions and fossil fuel consumption. The study highlights the importance of including additives in LCA and the need for sustainable practices to mitigate environmental impacts.

Diferentes métodos para a análise da previsão do índice de emissões de uma usina geradora de eletricidade
(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2014) GOMES, Paulo Cesar Rocha; RODRIGUEZ, Jorge Laureano Moya; LEITE, Jandecy Cabral.; MAGALHÃES, Edilson Marques
The study evaluated different methods for forecasting the emission index of a thermoelectric power plant, using data from 2001 to 2013 and projecting values until 2020. The ARIMA, exponential, and logarithmic methods were applied, supported by tools such as Excel and SPSS20. Results showed that the ARIMA method provides more accurate forecasts for long and well-behaved time series, while linear and logarithmic methods are suitable for clear growth or decline trends. The study concluded that the choice of method depends on data characteristics and analysis objectives.

GESTÃO DE RESÍDUOS SÓLIDOS GERADOS DA CONSTRUÇÃO CIVIL
(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2014) MOREIRA, Luciano Alves; FREENZI, Norbert; MAGALHÃES, Edilson Marques
In Brazil, the construction industry is regarded as one of the most significant contributors to economic and social development, yet it also generates considerable environmental impacts. The sector faces the challenge of reconciling productivity with sustainability. Population growth and increased consumption have led to greater waste generation, with estimates indicating that each person produces about 1 kg of waste per day. This article discusses the environmental impacts and challenges of managing construction waste, suggesting sustainable practices as a way to reduce environmental harm.

Avaliação da Influência do Efluente Gerado por uma Termoelétrica Lançado em um Corpo D’água – Estudo Caso na UTE Manauara – Manaus/AM
(Instituto de Tecnologia, 2015) FRANÇA, Alcimar de Jesus; MENDES, Ronaldo Lopes Rodrigues; OLIVEIRA, Dênio Ramam Carvalho de; QUARESMA, João Nazareno Nonato
The study evaluated the influence of effluent generated by the Manauara Thermoelectric Power Plant (UTE) in Manaus/AM on the São João community stream. Parameters such as Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) were analyzed to determine the effluent's biodegradability and the efficiency of the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETE). Results showed that the ETE complies with CONAMA 430/2011, with removal rates exceeding 60%. The shift to natural gas (NG) as an energy source improved effluent quality, and the COD/BOD ratio indicated significant biodegradability in the stream. It was concluded that the UTE's effluent does not significantly contribute to water contamination.

This study presents an environmental management plan for a plastic recycling industry in Manaus, based on ISO 14001 standards. The objective is to implement an Environmental Management System (EMS) to minimize environmental impacts, increase productivity, and reduce costs while promoting sustainable practices. The methodology includes qualitative analysis of the recycling process, environmental licensing surveys, and literature research. The expected result is ISO 14001 certification and improved sustainability for the company.
