(Instituto de Tecnologia, 2012) NOGUEIRA, Rildo de Mendonça; OLIVEIRA, Edson Farias de; SILVA, Waterloo Ferreira da; SANTANA, Ádamo L.; TOSTES, Maria Emília de Lima; SOARES, Thiago Mota.; BRASIL, Davi do Socorro Barros
This study analyzes the impacts of current harmonics on the electrical grid of an electronics industry in the Manaus Industrial Park, focusing on the manufacturing of computers, notebooks, and tablets. Using power quality analyzers and decision tree techniques, the work quantifies the total harmonic distortion (THD) and identifies the most impactful harmonics, such as the 5th and 7th orders, generated by non-linear loads. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the applied methodology to anticipate future regulations and improve energy quality.

Aplicação de Óleo Vegetal de Andiroba (Carapa guianensis) como Fluido Dielétrico em Transformadores de Potência
(Instituto de Tecnologia, 2013) PINTO, Vagner Barroso; LEITE, Jandecy Cabral; FUJIYAMA, Roberto Tetsuo; LOPES, Raimundo Valdan Pereira; BRITO JUNIOR, Jorge Almeida; QUARESMA, João Nazareno Nonato
The study investigated the use of andiroba vegetable oil (Carapa guianensis) as an alternative dielectric fluid in power transformers, aiming to replace petroleum-derived mineral oils. Physical-chemical and electrical properties of the oil were evaluated and compared with technical standards (ABNT NBR 15422) and commercial oils (BIOTEMP®, ENVIROTEMP® FR3™). Results indicated that andiroba oil has suitable viscosity and density, is biodegradable, and non-corrosive. However, specific treatments are required to adjust parameters such as water content and dielectric strength. It was concluded that andiroba oil is a viable candidate for transformer applications, leveraging renewable resources from the Amazon.

The study proposes an analysis of power quality in low-voltage three-phase systems using THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) and Power Factor indicators, based on a Fuzzy inference system. The method integrates expert knowledge and current standards to classify harmonic distortions and energy efficiency, avoiding manual regulation checks. Results demonstrate the system's effectiveness in identifying critical conditions, such as high THD and low Power Factor, recommending corrective actions.

Implementação de Medidas e Uso de um Software Supervisório na Eficiência Energética de um Sistema de Refrigeração Industrial
(Instituto de Tecnologia, 2023) RAABE, Matheus Arthur; SILVA, Pedro Luiz
This paper aims to present the results of implementing a set of energy efficiency measures, supported by a supervisory software, in an industrial refrigeration system installed in a dairy factory. The study involved the collection and analysis of electric energy consumption data, equipment operation, and identification of improvement opportunities. With the implementation of actions such as evaporation temperature control, optimization of compressor operation, and the introduction of maintenance routines, a significant reduction in energy consumption and improvement in system reliability was observed. The results demonstrate the potential for energy and operational gains through the use of automation and supervision technologies in industrial processes.

Utilização do Protocolo IEC61850 para Implementação de Seletividade Lógica em um Sistema de 13,8 kV com Múltiplas Fontes e Topologia em Anel" Subtítulo: Aplicação em Subestações Elétricas Industriais para Melhoria de Desempenho e Confiabilidade
(Instituto de Tecnologia, 2015) SANTOS, Sidnei José Gonzaga; VIEIRA JUNIOR, Petrônio
This study describes the implementation of logical selectivity in a 13.8 kV industrial electrical system using the IEC 61850 protocol, aiming to reduce protection operating times from 0.85-1.05 seconds to 0.1 seconds. The solution was applied at the SE-56C-1 substation of Hydro Alunorte, utilizing a low-cost communication network to enhance system safety and reliability. The project was validated through simulations and a real short-circuit event, proving its effectiveness in equipment protection and operational continuity.

The national electric grid, predominantly hydroelectric, faces instability due to water scarcity, exposing continuous process industries, such as alumina refineries, to production stoppage risks. This work proposes an automation logic for maneuvers in Motor Control Centers (MCCs) of the precipitation area, aiming to reduce energy downtime and eliminate human errors. The solution uses the plant's central controller to supervise and act in cases of total or partial power failure, ensuring restoration in less than 10 minutes and avoiding significant losses.

Implantação do Sistema de Rejeição de Cargas (SRC) no Sistema Elétrico de Potência (SEP) da Hydro Alunorte
(Instituto de Tecnologia, 2015) CORRÊA, José Luiz; COSTA JUNIOR, Carlos Tavares da
The study presents the implementation of a Load Rejection System (LRS) at Hydro Alunorte to preserve internal power generation and partial production during external power failures. The LRS, using frequency relays, automatically sheds non-priority loads, ensuring the continuity of utilities (water, steam, and compressed air) and minimizing financial losses. The system was successfully tested in real events, demonstrating its effectiveness.

Análise da Blindagem Eletrostática por Elementos Finitos de Dispositivo Tipo Gaiola de Faraday para Pinos de Isoladores de Disco
(Instituto de Tecnologia, 2018) SILVA, José Eduardo Ribeiro da; Marcos Allan Leite dos Reis
High-voltage disc insulators are devices used in power transmission or distribution networks, serving to support the conductive cables while simultaneously providing electrical insulation. These insulators consist of a metal cap, a metal pin, and a glass or porcelain disc. The combined effects of atmospheric pollution, humidity, and intense electric fields on these insulators facilitate the occurrence of electrical discharges on the central region of the pins, accelerating their corrosion and eventual rupture, which can lead to catastrophic failures in the electrical system. In this work, an electrostatic shielding device called the "Faraday Cage for Disc Insulator Pins" was developed to shield the intermediate region of the pins from the effects of external electric fields. Additionally, a super-hydrophobic coating was proposed for the glass surface of the insulators to facilitate the removal of atmospheric contaminants that induce the formation of voltaic arcs directed towards the pin surface. Experimental tests were conducted using a Van der Graaf generator on a pin protected by the first prototype of the device. Furthermore, computational simulations based on the Finite Element Method were performed to analyze the electric field distribution in 2D models of insulator chains subjected to 69 kV voltages. The experimental and numerical results demonstrated that the device effectively prevented electrical discharges in the pin’s most corrosion-prone area, confirming the efficiency of the electrostatic shielding.
