SOLUÇÃO DE EQUAÇÕES DE BALANÇO POPULACIONAL USANDO A TÉCNICA DA TRANSFORMADA DE LAPLACE

Abstract

This study proposes a solution for population balance equations (PBE) with hyperbolic and nonlinear formulations using the Laplace transform technique with numerical inversion. The methodology estimates the particle size distribution density function and predicts the dynamic behavior of homogeneous particulate systems, considering convective and diffusive transport, as well as birth and death rates of particles. The results were obtained through computational simulation in Fortran 90/95 using the DINLAP subroutine from the IMSL library and validated with literature data, showing excellent agreement.
