The effects of a Low Concentration Sugar Solution (SBCA), extracted from the mandiocaba bag in natura, as co-plasticizers in combination with glycerol were investigated for the production of thermoplastic starch (TPS) by the casting method, from the starch of mandiocaba and commercial cassava starch. The results were compared to the TPSs produced with water and glycerol, also investigated. Glycerol was reduced to 50% and 25%, substituting water for SBCA. Samples were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) after 15 days of aging, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), tensile strength (RT), elongation at break (ER), and water vapor permeability (PVA). The results showed that mandiocaba TPSs with SBCA decreased PVA to 90.2%; RT increased on average up to 7.72 times more; ER decreased by 13.4%; SEM showed voids caused by the reduction of glycerol and the use of SBCA
