Water disinfection is essential to eliminate pathogenic microorganisms and ensure sanitary safety. Among emerging technologies, ozonation stands out due to its high efficiency and environmental sustainability. This study analyzes the effectiveness of ozone application in water disinfection in Itajaí/SC, addressing its physicochemical principles, technical-economic feasibility, and environmental impacts. The methodology combined literature review, experimentation, and case study, showing that ozonation is more effective than chlorine, especially against resistant pathogens, and reduces toxic byproducts while providing synergistic effects when combined with other methods. It concludes that ozonation is a viable and sustainable alternative for sanitation, contributing to the improvement of drinking water quality.

Water disinfection is crucial to eliminate pathogenic microorganisms and improve water quality for human consumption. This study analyzes the efficacy and sustainability of ozonation as a disinfection method, comparing it with conventional processes such as chlorination. Conducted in the municipality of Itajaí/SC, the research demonstrated that ozonation is more efficient in inactivating bacteria, viruses, and protozoa, while also avoiding the generation of toxic byproducts like trihalomethanes. The study also highlighted the technical feasibility and environmental benefits of ozonation, although it acknowledges challenges such as operational costs and energy consumption.

The importance of using parks for physical activity – Niterói-RJ
(Instituto de Tecnologia e Educação Galileo da Amazônia, 2024) SANTOS, Vagner Wander Cardoso dos CAMPOS, Paola Souto; LEITE, Jandecy Cabral
The theme of green areas, parks, squares, and public spaces as components of urban design is directly related to culture and population well-being. Directing these spaces towards sports takes advantage of social interest and strengthens the conservation of these areas. This study, conducted through observational research in the city of Niterói-RJ, investigates the environmental and social benefits of using parks for physical activity. The results indicate that public spaces play a crucial role in promoting physical and mental health while encouraging social interaction and sustainability. The research also highlights the importance of municipal planning in creating healthier and more sustainable cities.

Educação e Sustentabilidade no Currículo do Curso Técnico em Edificações: Implementação e Desafios
(Instituto de Tecnologia e Educação Galileo da Amazônia, 2023) SILVA, Eicilene Costa da; SILVA, Simone da; LEITE, Jandecy Cabral
Increasingly, humanity has established a predatory relationship with nature due to the consumerist and capitalist model of production. As a result of this lifestyle, humanity is rapidly approaching a scenario of environmental disaster. Teaching and learning how to take care of the world, how to care for the collective, how to reduce, recycle, and reuse should be themes addressed in schools in a relevant and effective way. This would not only raise awareness among students but also among the entire faculty of educational institutions, the professionals who work in them, the community, society, and the world. Only through education will we be able to cultivate behaviors and habits consistent with sustainability. To achieve this, the curriculum needs to be restructured, allowing for an integrated approach to incorporate sustainability concepts and sustainable development with school knowledge and experiences. Considering that the disciplines of the Pedagogical Project Course (PPC) of the Integrated Technical Course in Buildings do not currently include the theme of sustainability, this work aims to identify and propose the inclusion of teaching sustainability concepts and sustainable development in the syllabi of technical courses in the integrated modality in buildings within the civil construction area of the Federal Institute of Amazonas (IFAM).

Análise da Gestão de Resíduos Sólidos no Trecho Entre o Terminal Portuário da Manaus Moderna e IP4 Município Careiro da Várzea/AM
(Instituto de Tecnologia e Educação Galileo da Amazônia, 2023) CUNHA, Alinda Freitas da; SILVA, Simone da; LEITE, Jandecy Cabral
Port activities are essential for the expansion of the globalized economy; however, this sector can cause significant environmental impacts, such as those related to solid waste from vessels. It is important to find a sustainable solution for the adequate management of waste on vessels, in order to contribute to the reduction of waste discharges by vessels into rivers, thus playing a vital role in protecting the environment. The objective of this study was to analyze solid waste management in the section between the Modern Manaus Port Terminal and the Small Port Installation (IP4) of Careiro da Várzea in light of Law nº 12.305/2010 (National Solid Waste Policy), CONAMA Resolution nº 05/1993, and other Port Environmental Legislation.

Environmental education is currently being valued in many social segments when it comes to the conservation and preservation of natural resources because sustainability is strengthened when the levels of consumption and transformation of inputs involving four interdependent pillars are considered, which are the pillars: social, economic, environmental, and institutional. In this sense, this research conducts an analysis of the processes involved in projects related to the productive chains of the Agricultural District of the Manaus Free Trade Zone Authority - DAS, in the Municipality of Rio Preto da Eva - AM. The objective of this research is to develop a study on the processes involving projects related to productive chains in DAS, Rio Preto da Eva - AM, for sustainable development in actions. The methodological procedures used were bibliographic research and field research at the headquarters of SUFRAMA and the City Hall of Rio Preto da Eva - AM. The results highlighted the importance of scientific knowledge for the applicability of projects and public policies that begin with planning.

Population growth and advances in industry and urbanization contribute to the increase in waste generation, including gypsum. Due to a modification in CONAMA Resolution No. 307, gypsum has been reclassified as Category B, indicating that it can be recycled or reused. This study aimed to diagnose the generation of gypsum waste from construction companies in Manaus and evaluate the technical characteristics of recycled gypsum produced on a pilot scale for reintegration into the civil construction production chain. Laboratory tests were conducted to compare the properties of recycled gypsum with conventional gypsum, assessing setting time, mechanical strength, and consistency. The results indicate that recycled gypsum did not meet the minimum strength required by the standard, suggesting the need for more elaborate processes for its reuse.
