Viabilidade de Geração Energética no Aterro Sanitário de Manaus Visando a Sustentabilidade Ambiental
(Instituto de Tecnologia, 2016) MARTINS, Maura Celi; LEITE, Jandecy Cabral
In the last two decades, various studies on greenhouse gas concentration and flow (especially CO₂ and CH₄) have shown their contribution to climate change. This study proposes a sustainable alternative energy generation through methane gas from the landfill in Manaus, based on municipal data. The methodology included field research and analysis of solid waste data. Results indicate that Manaus generates approximately 2,632.156 t/day of solid waste.

Potencial de Inserção de Fontes Renováveis para Geração Elétrica na Matriz Energética do Estado do Maranhão
(Instituto de Tecnologia, 2018) Ó, Franklin Roosevelt Rodrigues do; Nielson Fernando da Paixão Ribeiro
The main objectives of this research are to evaluate the potential and prospects of exploration of renewable energy sources in the state of Maranhão, for conversion into electric energy, as well as to evaluate them. To this end, an introduction is made to the most relevant matrix of renewable energies, and it is broadly focused on the forms of energy conversion and existing technologies, both in application and in development, in Brazil and in the world. Research was done on the technical and economical feasibility for electric power generation from hydraulics, wind, solar, biomass, and oceanic sources, as well as the contribution of each one to the State Electric Matrix. The main projects for energy generation in operation and under implementation in the State were also presented, along with their respective economic, social, and environmental impacts. The technical information and data collection were obtained through bibliographic research, scientific articles, official websites of ANEEL, companies or organizations linked to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, and manufacturers, universities, and research centers. The work concludes by presenting a synthesis of Maranhão's potential and opportunities to expand the participation of renewable energies in the state’s electricity matrix, along with suggestions for future studies.
