The increasing production of plastic waste, particularly Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), poses a significant environmental challenge due to its long degradation time and negative environmental impact. This study investigates the feasibility of using ground PET as a partial replacement for fine aggregate (sand) in concrete production. Mixtures with 0%, 10%, 30%, and 50% sand replacement by PET were prepared. Tests at 28 days of curing showed that PET addition in certain proportions maintained the required strength and provided environmental benefits, such as reducing natural sand extraction and reusing plastic waste, reinforcing the technical and environmental viability of using recycled PET in concretes.

The imbalance between population growth and agricultural production increases the demand for food, making irrigation efficiency essential for food security. This study develops an automated irrigation system based on the Penman-Monteith method to calculate evapotranspiration and irrigation pulse. An experiment compared methods based on evapotranspiration and accumulated radiation, showing the former was 7% more water-efficient. The system uses an ESP32 microcontroller, radiation, humidity, and temperature sensors, promoting water savings and better agricultural management.

This dissertation develops a fuzzy inference system to evaluate the compliance of energy meter displays according to the criteria of Portaria 221, May 23, 2022. Using fuzzy logic, the system analyzes variables such as Digit Segment Quality (QSD), sharpness, and functionality, providing a more precise and adaptable evaluation. The model proposes improvements in cost, speed, and scalability by automating the analysis and reducing human errors, standing out as an effective tool for quality control in industrial environments.

This research implements a fuzzy inference model to support the preliminary technical analysis of taximeters, aiming for greater accuracy and reliability in inspections according to Ordinance No. 124, March 24, 2022. The methodology was structured in three phases: identification of technical indicators, fuzzy system modeling, and model experimentation. Using Matlab R2013a - Fuzzy Toolbox, variables, fuzzy sets, and inference rules were defined. Results indicated that the model replicates real inspection conditions, reducing subjectivity and promoting uniformity in evaluations.

The national market for electrical wires and cables faces products of dubious quality, with electrical resistance exceeding normative limits, which may cause fires. This dissertation addresses the importance of ensuring the compliance of these products, focusing on the estimation of measurement uncertainty in electrical resistance tests for wires and cables with nominal voltages up to 450/750V. The "top-down" methodology was applied, using the Ishikawa Diagram, enabling the creation of a mathematical model to calculate combined standard uncertainty. Tests conducted on samples from factories and the market revealed non-conformities, emphasizing the need for improved inspection and measurement processes.

The advancement of Industry 4.0 technologies and the demand for energy efficiency require innovative solutions in electric energy management. This dissertation develops the SMART GATEWAY 4.0, an intelligent gateway prototype for power factor controllers, using IoT and Edge Computing. The goal is to optimize the commissioning and management of these controllers and elevate the digital maturity level of industries according to the ACATECH Industry 4.0 Maturity Index. Communication was carried out using Modbus, HTTP, and REST API protocols. Results demonstrated that SMART GATEWAY 4.0 significantly improves energy management efficiency, fostering the digitalization and automation of energy-related industrial processes.

The carbon credit market is a global mechanism to help nations meet pollutant reduction targets. This research analyzes the impact of this market on riverside communities in the Rio Negro Sustainable Development Reserve, Amazonas, where electricity has not yet arrived. The study highlights REDD+ projects as an alternative to improving residents' quality of life and proposes using resources from carbon credit sales to implement renewable energy. The analysis is based on data collected from local communities and the environmental policy of the state of Amazonas.

This dissertation presents an integrated approach to reducing setup time in industrial processes, combining fuzzy logic, quality tools, SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die) technique, and computer simulation. The study followed a five-step methodology, from analyzing the current process to validating proposed strategies, emphasizing that tools and equipment account for 86% of the setup time influence. The SMED application was crucial to eliminating waste and optimizing the process by converting internal activities into external ones.
