Convergência Tecnológica para Redes Ethernet em Sistemas de Controle de Processo em Ferrovias
(Instituto de Tecnologia, 2018) BORBA, Felipe Colares de; Kleber Bittencourt Oliveira
The main objective of this dissertation is to study the changes in the telecommunications field that railroads must face to avoid technological obsolescence in their automation, particularly railway signaling. The study focuses on the technological convergence to Ethernet interfaces. A literature review was conducted, followed by an analysis of the convergent technology (Ethernet) and the converged technology (RS-232). After these theoretical considerations, an Ethernet system topology was proposed for a hypothetical railway and implemented through a test setup. Tests were simulated using the standard reference protocol RFC 2455 to assess the capacity of the suggested Ethernet topology for railway applications. The practical results confirmed that the proposed topology meets all the necessary parameters for a telecommunications network supporting a railway signaling system. The conclusion is that railways can base their telecommunications systems on Ethernet technology while coexisting with legacy systems during the migration phase.

Starch has gained increasing interest as a biodegradable plastic due to its abundance, renewability, and low cost. Different types of starch grains form thermoplastics with varied physico-mechanical properties. This study analyzes the influence of different starch grains (rice, manioc, and corn) in biofilm production. Films were prepared by plasticization with glycerol in an aqueous medium at 100°C for 30 minutes and characterized by physical-chemical analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical microscopy, thermal analysis (TG/DTG), and mechanical tests. The results show that the geometry of the grains and the amylose/amylopectin ratio influence biofilm properties, affecting solubility, gelatinization time, and mechanical stability after radiation exposure.

Efeitos de Açúcares Extraídos de Raízes da Mandiocaba como Co-Plastificantes Glicerol/Mandioca e Glicerol/Mandiocaba
(Instituto de Tecnologia, 2018) CHAVES, Lilia Eliza Monteiro; CUNHA, Edinaldo José de Sousa
The effects of a Low Concentration Sugar Solution (SBCA), extracted from the mandiocaba bag in natura, as co-plasticizers in combination with glycerol were investigated for the production of thermoplastic starch (TPS) by the casting method, from the starch of mandiocaba and commercial cassava starch. The results were compared to the TPSs produced with water and glycerol, also investigated. Glycerol was reduced to 50% and 25%, substituting water for SBCA. Samples were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) after 15 days of aging, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), tensile strength (RT), elongation at break (ER), and water vapor permeability (PVA). The results showed that mandiocaba TPSs with SBCA decreased PVA to 90.2%; RT increased on average up to 7.72 times more; ER decreased by 13.4%; SEM showed voids caused by the reduction of glycerol and the use of SBCA
