Item Loss of product (cryogenic liquid) for filling of cars - tanks: production of liquid(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2015) TORRINHA, Andrea da Silva; OLIVEIRA, Maria Socorro Frutuoso de; GUEDES, Megue Pinheiro; LEITE, Jandecy Cabral; José Antônio da Silva SouzaThe paper analyzes the loss of cryogenic liquids (oxygen and nitrogen) during the filling of tank cars, a critical stage in the transportation of these gases. Losses occur due to heat exchanges causing vaporization, internal pressure increase in tanks, and inadequate pump handling. Using field questionnaires, operational data, and literature review, the study suggests improvements such as better thermal insulation and operator training, emphasizing the economic and environmental impacts of such waste.Item Tube and Shell heat exchanger optimization taking into account Mechanical restrictionsv(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2015) RODRÍGUEZ, Maida Bárbara Reyes; RODRÍGUEZ, Jorge L. Moya; FONTICIELLA, Oscar Cruz; DONÉSTEVEZ, Eduardo Migeu Fírvida; Prof Dr. Davi do Socorro Barros BrasilThe study introduces a multi-objective optimization procedure for shell-and-tube heat exchangers, incorporating thermal, hydraulic, and mechanical constraints to ensure equipment durability. Implemented in MATLAB using genetic algorithms (NSGA-II), the method optimizes design variables while adhering to mechanical standards. Results validate the approach against literature examples, highlighting cost and performance improvements.Item Comparação do Impacto Ambiental duma Usina Elétrica quando Utiliza Motores de Óleo Combustível Pesado e quando Utiliza Motores a Gás(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2013) SILVA, Wagner Ferreira; CAMPOS, Lucila Maria de Souza; MIGUEL, Paulo Augusto Cauchick; RODRIGUEZ, Jorge Laureano Moya; LEITE, Jandecy Cabral; MAGALHÃES, Edilson MarquesThe study compares the environmental impact of a power plant in the Brazilian Amazon when using heavy fuel oil (HFO) engines and natural gas engines. It analyzes emissions of pollutants such as CO, CO₂, NOx, SOx, and particulate matter, noting that gas engines emit less NOx and SOx but more CO and CO₂ per unit of power supplied.Item Projeto e Execução de Ponte Extensionétrica para Medição de Deformação em Próteses de Membros Inferiores(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2011) NEGREIROS, Márcio Ney Gonçalves; ARAÚJO, Rayza; LUCENA, Raimundo; FARIA, Marlene Araújo deThe project developed an Extensometric Bridge to measure deformations in lower limb prostheses, using strain gauge sensors and a PIC microcontroller. The system converts voltage variations into deformations, displaying the data on an LCD and computer via RS232 serial communication. Simulations were performed in Proteus software, codes were developed in C, and a Delphi program was created for data visualization. The aim was to evaluate the behavior of prostheses under static and dynamic loading, contributing to the validation of their mechanical properties.Item Diagnóstico de los factores microestructurales en el proceso de soldadura MIG/MAG que causan averías en los transformadores: estudio de caso(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2012) LOPES, Raimundo Valdan Pereira; COSTA, Otávio Fernandes Limada; FUJIYAMA, Roberto Tetsuo; PINTO, Vagner Barroso; LEITE, Jandecy Cabral; MAGALHÃES, Edilson MarquesThe study examined microstructural factors in the MIG/MAG welding process of 3 mm and 4 mm industrial steel, leading to failures in 500 KVA power transformers. Charpy-V impact tests and microstructural analysis were conducted to correlate microstructure with impact toughness. Results revealed impurities in the weld pool, affecting weld quality and causing leaks of insulating oil.Item Dust exhaustion systems in the aluminum industry – reference data and design methodology definition problems(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2007) TREJO, Antonio Mauricio Martelli; VASCONCELLOS, Mauro Fernandes; MESQUITA, André Luiz Amarante.; MAGALHÃES, Edilson MarquesThe study addresses challenges in designing dust exhaustion systems for the aluminum industry, emphasizing the lack of reference data for specific equipment and process emissions. Methodologies for calculating air flow and pressure drop in exhaust systems are reviewed, with a focus on pneumatic conveying of particulates. The work proposes an improved methodological approach based on hydrodynamic models and presents real-world case studies, such as coke loading/unloading systems and alumina feeding in potlines. Conclusions include recommendations for optimizing system performance.Item Impacto ecológico de los Intercambiadores de calor de tubo y coraza(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2014) REYES-RODRÍGUEZ, Maida Bárbara; MOYA RODRÍGUEZ, Jorge Laureano; CRUZ FONTICIELLA, Oscar Miguel; Prof Dr. Walter Barra JuniorShell and tube heat exchangers are essential components in chemical process industries. This paper proposes a new expression to evaluate their environmental impact, combining the “entransy dissipation” concept — introduced as an alternative to entropy — with Angulo-Brown’s “ecological function.” A multi-objective optimization considering irreversibilities and cost is also conducted, using genetic algorithms as the solving method.Item Desenvolvimento de um Modelo Matemático para a Avaliação da Eficiência da Combustão em Usinas Termoelétricas Operando com Gás e Alternando com Diesel(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2015) AZEVEDO, Manoel S. Santos; LEITE, Jandecy Cabral; CARVAJAL, Tirso Lorenzo Reyes; RODRIGUEZ, Jorge Laureano Moya; RICO, Iván Leandro Rodriguez; DÍAZ, Pablo Romélio Roque; GOMES, Paulo Cezar Rocha.; Prof Dr. Walter Barra JuniorThe article presents a mathematical model developed to evaluate combustion efficiency in thermoelectric power plants operating with natural gas (NG) and alternating with diesel (HFO). The study was conducted in a plant transitioning to dual-fuel use, aiming to optimize energy efficiency and reduce pollutant emissions. The model covers stoichiometric, thermodynamic, and kinetic aspects of combustion, implemented in software for real-time analysis. Results demonstrated the model's feasibility in predicting engine performance and optimizing specific fuel consumption, with practical applications in plant operation.Item Técnicas capazes de usar o oxigênio do ar atmosférico em queimadores industriais(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2010) SILVA, Luiz Antonio Ribeiro da; BLANCO, Ricardo Alfonso; MESQUITA, André L. Amarante.; MAGALHÃES, Edilson MarquesThe study developed an oxy-fuel system using atmospheric air/GLP as an alternative to pure oxygen for aluminum brazing in window-type air conditioners, aiming to reduce industrial costs. An experimental platform was built to measure temperature and brazing time, using thermocouples and real-time data acquisition. The results showed that the system meets the 45-second production cycle, with cost reduction and maintained process quality.Item O uso de ensaios mecânicos para avaliação do produto canote do garfo(INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGIA, 2010) SANTOS, Ruy Sidney Nascimento dos; FARIA, Marlene Araújo de; LEITE, Jandecy Cabral; MAGALHÃES, Edilson MarquesThe study focuses on technological innovation in the industrial sector, using mechanical tests and computational simulations to evaluate the bicycle seatpost fork product.
